Why is an order stuck in 'Awaiting Shipment'?

Common reasons an order has not moved out of Awaiting Shipment, and how to fix them.

An order stays in Awaiting Shipment until a label is purchased and the package is marked as shipped.

If an order has been sitting there longer than expected, one of the following is usually the cause.

1. Inventory is not available

If any line item does not have enough on-hand stock at the selected warehouse, the order cannot be shipped. Open the order and check the items section — any short-stock items will be flagged.

Receive more inventory or transfer stock from another warehouse to resolve this.

2. The shipping address is invalid

Carriers reject labels for unverified or malformed addresses. Open the order and click Validate Address. If validation fails, edit the address and try again.

3. No shipping service is configured

The client must have at least one shipping option set up under their account. If none exist, go to Clients, open the client, and add a shipping service in the Shipping tab.

4. The order has an open issue

Orders with active issues (such as a cancellation request or wrong items report) are held until the issue is closed. Check the Issues tab on the order detail page.

Confirming the fix

Once the blocker is resolved, the order becomes shippable. Buy a label or mark it as shipped, and it will move to the Shipped status.
