What happens to inventory after a return is processed?
See how each disposition (Restock, Inspect, Discard) affects your available stock.
Inventory is adjusted automatically based on the disposition the warehouse selects when completing a return.
Disposition outcomes
- Restock — quantity is added back to On Hand and becomes available for new orders.
- Inspect — quantity is held in a separate state and does not affect available stock until a final decision is made.
- Discard — no inventory change. The item is removed from circulation.
Tracking the change
Every return that affects inventory creates an entry in the inventory log. Open the product in your catalog and review the log to see the exact change, the warehouse user, and the timestamp.
